Project 1

Module 1

Explore different methods for introducing physical computing and data transmission: Arduino, Protopie, Touch Design

Activity 1

Set up the correct code in the Arduino IDE and upload it to the component. The wires on the component connect to the circuit board and add resistance to the circuit. Unfortunately, it failed the first time—perhaps there was an issue with the code. The issue has been resolved—it was caused by a misspelled letter in the code that prevented it from running. Now the light bulb illuminates in a different color. Proceeding further, I connected the two bulbs in series and added resistors to both—successfully. Finally, a button component was added to the light bulb. This button can control the bulb's flashing.

Activity 2

The Arduino has successfully connected to the computer and is displaying normally. Using Protopie Connect to external devices equipped with various sensors. Running Arduino and Protopie together, successfully connecting them. The professor demonstrated the data transfer process between the Maykey and the iPad.

Activity 3

The Arduino has successfully connected to the computer and is displaying normally. The Production Process of Touch Designer The Production Process of Touch Designer Success! Visual effects displayed. Rotating the device alters the visual effect.

Project Path

Sufficient information for path planning and answering questions related to the path.

Are you more interested in following an ART or DESIGN Path? Explain why for each. Are you more interested in working INDIVIDUALLY or COLLABORATIVELY? Explain why for each. Describe two possible project directions based on your WGSN, Persona, and HMI research as well as the Path you are interested in following.

Project 1 Concept

Emotion-Adaptive Smart Lamp

"The Emotional Adaptive Smart Lamp" is an interactive lighting system that detects changes in the user's emotional state through sound and motion sensors. This intelligent lamp can adjust its brightness and color temperature based on the emotional tone, activity conditions, and environmental factors, thereby creating a peaceful or focused atmosphere. This project introduces empathy into the automation system, addressing the increasingly serious disconnection between humans and emotionless intelligent devices. The lamp was developed using Arduino and Protopie, and presents emotional patterns through motion and sound feedback, allowing users to understand how the environment reacts to them. Its goal is to establish a more transparent, human-centered human-machine relationship - an automation system that not only predicts behavior but also perceives and responds in detail.
